An engaging and experienced practitioner and speaker Sharon brings a
practical approach to the delivery of evidence-based workshops and
training events.
Sharon is Registered Nurse who has worked in and managed services
for people with disability in the UK and Australia. She has a particular
interest in governance, quality and policy development. Sharon has held
positions as the statewide Director of Clinical Governance in
Queensland, Head of Clinical Governance and lead consultant for an
international NGO her role included providing service reviews, policy
advice and undertaking investigations.
The author of papers and books on topics including reducing restrictive
practices, positive behaviour support, autism, and healthcare of people
with complex disability she has post graduate qualifications in research
methodology and intellectual disability. She is the recipient of the
prestigious Florence Nightingale Scholarship and sits on the Editorial
Board of the International Journal of Positive Behavioural Support. In
2023 she was elected Vice President of the Professional Association of
Nurses in Developmental Disability Australia.
Sharon is the founder and Director of the ACRRE, an organisation that
specialises in providing advice related to reducing restrictive practices,
and developing organisational policy frameworks related to improving
organisational governance and quality, organisational review and
undertaking post incident reviews.
Sharon lives in the Queensland hinterland and enjoys the cool climate of
the rainforest, sharing her house with three Burmese cats and a
husband who definitely plays fourth fiddle
