Matthew currently works as the Director of Clinical Training at the Centre for Positive Behaviour Support. He has over 25 years of experience using Multi-Element Behaviour Support for quality-of-life improvements for people with complex needs. He is a registered Psychologist, board approved supervisor Matthew has been a senior clinical manager within non-government services since 2008, managing across disability, children and families, out of home care, homelessness, mental health services and health behaviour change. Matthew has managed state-wide projects in positive behavior support training the entire Tasmanian Government disability service system and was a member of the expert reference group contributing to the initial capability framework for NDIS behaviour support practitioners. Matthew also works across Australia as a consultant to large government departments and non-government services implementing organisational trauma informed cultural change projects. He is a founding member and Director of Behaviour Support Practitioners Australia a member of the National Therapeutic Residential Care Alliance, the National Advisory Group for ‘Seasons for Life’ (a youth suicide initiative through the MacKillop Institute) and an advisory board member for the IABA foundation.He has presented at national and international conferences in the areas of positive behaviour support and trauma informed practice. He has published book chapters and peer reviewed articles in these areas. He also has a particular interest in reducing restrictive practices through the use of Non-Aversive Reactive Strategies.
